Every year, Allah (swt) blesses us with a special holiday, Eid-ul-Fitr, as a gift for our hard work, dedication, and steadfastness in the month of Ramadan, where we abstain from not only eating and drinking, but also from committing any sins, inwardly or outwardly. This special day is given to us to enjoy ourselves with the blessings of Allah (swt) and with each other’s company, so what better way to celebrate than by attending Montclair MSA’s Eid Dinner, where you can get the best of both?
On Monday, October 13th, 2008, bring along your brothers, sisters, parents, relatives, and friends for a fun time at MSA’s Annual Eid Dinner. At this event, we not only provide an atmosphere for everyone to “hang out” and socialize with one another, but we also reward those who actively participated in the MSA during Ramadan for their hard work with a few surprises.

InshaAllah, the MSA will be having its annual Fast-A-Thon on Thursday, September 25, 2008, in Student Center Room 411. During the Fast-A-Thon, we ask people to pledge to fast one day (on the day of the event) from sunrise to sunset, to share with 1.2 billion Muslims around the world the feeling of fasting in Ramadan, and to also remind oneself of what exactly hunger feels like, so that we can better sympathize with our underprivileged brothers and sisters all around the world.
In the evening, we invite all those who pledged to fast to break their fast with a delicious feast alongside others who also refrained from eating or drinking that day for the sake of humanity, and for the sake of contributing to society.
All donations are encouraged and welcomed, as all funds will be forwarded to charity, inshaAllah (God-Willing).

Next Week we will begin a weely book discussion about the book The Sealed Nectar (story of Prophet Muhammad pbuh). If you would like read the first chapter for next week (it is available online). We will have the main points summarized for those that cannot read it for any reason. Some important hadith were discussed. A contest was held and prizes were given out to the first three people to finish the word search.

Discussion:What does harm to “our” body? There are things that are clearly harmful to our bodies such as smoking and eating other unhealthy foods. However, they are not directly prohibited in the Quran. The discussion involved people giving hadith explaining why we should abstain from these things. For example, we should use our youthfulness and health to its fullest potential.
